Welcome to the
Center for the Gifted Website

The Center for the GiftedSM was established in 1983 to meet the needs of gifted people of all ages through the provision of specialized psychological, educational and vocational services designed to provide the assistance and encouragement gifted people need to identify, develop, and express their intellectual and creative potentials for the benefit of themselves and society. During the 36 years that followed, the highly skilled professional psychologists and educators associated with the Center became nationally known for the specialized services they provided.
When the COVID 19 pandemic began in December of 2019, it became unsafe for the Center’s psychologists and educators to continue to interact directly with the gifted people they served. The Center’s facilities for testing and psychotherapy were not suited for the kind of social distancing and sterilization needed for the safe delivery of direct services, and Center psychologists were advised by the American Psychological Association Trust not to do the kind of testing they normally did because virtual testing conditions cannot replicate the kind of standardized face-to-face interactions that are needed for the testing results to be valid and reliable. The results of testing done under non-standardized conditions may not be accurate or accepted.
Given these limitations, the Center Associates decided to stop providing direct services and focus their collaborative efforts on revising and expanding the Center website to share their knowledge and experience with a broader community of gifted people around the world. In November of 2023 the Center was converted from a domestic professional corporation to a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation with a revised educational mission to be fulfilled primarily by the Center for the Gifted website.
The purpose of the Center website is to provide the global community of intellectually and creatively gifted people and their families, teachers, counselors, school administrators and others with information that focuses on meeting their special needs through:
